The Procedure buttons

For Qudos 3 to be be fully integrated into your business operations, it is helpful if users can quickly see your organisation's rules for various tasks and activities. Therefore, throughout Qudos 3, there is a series of Procedure buttons to provide shortcuts to documented procedures. For example, in the Risk module, the shortcut can link to your procedure for Risk Assessment.

Sample procedures

One of the great time-saving features of Qudos 3 is that you don't need to 'reinvent the wheel' to develop your own procedures. A huge range of sample procedures are included in the Quality Manager, Safety Manager and Enviro Manager Toolkits. At least one sample procedure is provided for each module. As the Actions module has a multi-purpose role in many organisations, you may need several procedures for that module, and might consider the option of creating a 'switchboard' with hyperlinks to other files - or better still - including several combined procedures on one file (the toolkits include such an example).

The sample procedures are based on a hypothetical organisation. They should be modified to suit other compliance requirements and the needs of your own organisation. You may simply customise the samples provided using your word processor.

Adding shortcuts to Procedure buttons

By default, the Procedure buttons link to a Placeholder document - until your own procedures have been linked to the buttons.

Your Procedure files should be added to your Master Document List in the usual way. The shortcuts for each module are then set up in the Management Console. If you wish to create hyperlinks between these documents, refer to Hyperlinks between documents in the Master Document List for more information.

Once the documented procedure is logged in your Master Document List, then you may create the shortcut to it as follows:

From the Main Screen:

Step Action Result
1 Select menu item Edit/Management Console Opens the Management Console
2 Click in the relevant record to select it Selected record is highlighted in yellow
3 Click Edit button Opens the Management Console Details form - displaying the selected option and current setting
4 Click Document Lookup ^ button adjacent to the Setting field Opens a view of the Master Document List so you can navigate to and select the document that will be the subject of your shortcut
5 Navigate to the relevant document, and click anywhere in that entry to select it Selected document is highlighted in yellow
6 Click Return button Adds document to the 'Setting' field in the Management Console Details form
7 Click Save button in the Management Console Details form Saves the settings and returns to Management Console
8 Click Close button Process complete

In a typical entry in the Management Console, the setting for option 'File containing the risk procedure', might be 'Master Documents\Proc Risk assessment.doc' - note the setting has references to folder (Master Documents) and filename (Proc Risk assessment.doc). The folder is relative to the location of the main Qudos 3 application, and is also specified in the Management Console as the 'Master Documents Path'. This folder is typically labelled Master Documents.
