Objectives - Overview

In every successful organisation there is a need to plan objectives, and effectively communicate them. The Objectives module enables you to set measurable objectives at various organizational levels (from Corporate down to user-defined business units) - combining the requirements of formal management systems with the real business planning process.

Objectives may be set at formal reviews and business meetings, and also dynamically throughout the year. Where management systems are based on the PDCA cycle - (Plan, Do, Check and Act), setting Objectives forms part of the first step of that cycle.

The module also provides facility for organisations to take a balanced approach to objective setting - with the ability to set values of importance against 4 key drivers. Those drivers are user-definable, with the default entries based on Kaplan & Nortons' 'Balanced Scorecard' drivers.

Most information about objectives is maintained within the module - The Objective Register displays a summary of all objectives, with details of each displayed in their Objective form. There are options to add one or more attachments, and also to generate an Action form for detailed action planning / tracking. For those more complex objectives, each form may be used to generate up to 99 others that are linked but may be managed and tracked separately.

Your organisation may impose its own business rules and describe them in a documented procedure. A sample procedure is provided in the 'Procedures' folder (which is a sub-folder of the main application folder). This may be customized to suit, or replaced with a document of your choosing. See Help file section Sample Procedures for more information.
